The books

The books are about faith, history and the civilisation we are living through. I’m British-Kashmiri, and alongside the day job I’m an independent researcher in Islamic civilisational history, which is where they come from: Custodians, The Machine, The Turning of Days and The Chain of Light.

Every chapter of every book has a companion essay here. Not the chapter itself, but one idea from it, argued on its own and readable without the book. They are under Books, in reading order.

Publishing

I publish my books myself, under my own imprint, Ahad Books. I prepare each one for print, have it printed in small runs, and sell it directly from this site.

That independence is deliberate. Traditional publishing brings reach and expertise, but it also brings commercial and editorial pressures, and books on faith, history and identity are often the ones asked to soften their conclusions. Publishing independently means every argument appears as I intended it, in full, and I answer for every word.

The work

My working life has been in information technology and security. On the blog I write about what I’m working on and thinking about, starting with self-hosting, privacy, AI and the society we live in.
